Welcome to Episode 1 of Season 2 for the Nordic Insights Newsletter. Season 1 was a Christmas edition: a daily issue from December 1 to December 24. All related to the Christmases and sustainability. We had a lot of fun with it and judging from the responses we received, many readers enjoyed it too.
Now, after a dry January, we are back on track and ready to launch the next chapter: Our spring edition. This time we aim for weekly publications, more in-depth analyses, interviews with international thought leaders and reviews of important publications. We also want to play with AI, both for text, graphics, and photos and most of all we want it to communicate
Yes, we did read the news. We know of the wars, of the looming escalations, of the climate crisis, the biodiversity crisis, of the antimicrobial resistant crisis, the migration crisis, and …the economy (stupid). It all seems uphill as the politics (from local to COP) struggle to strike the balance between the obvious long-term goals and the imminent next election cycle. President Macron phrased it as those who talk about the end of the world vs. those who talk about the end of the month.
But there is hope. Simply because any given point of time represents a crossroad between the slightly better and the slightly worse scenario. There are the possible, plausible, probable, and preferred futures. And “hope” represents the deliberate choice to strive for the best possible outcome. For our future selves and for the future generations.
That’s where you will find the Nordic Insights Newsletter: On the crossroad holding a Making a great newsletter isn’t easy, but we are going to try! We know what we want:
- It should be based on solid data. Partly because we love data, and partly because we believe the truth is out there, buried in an open-source dataset only waiting for us to uncover it. ❤️📊
- It should be fun. Because our target readers don’t have the time or energy to read boring newsletters. 🚀💃
- It should move you: Provoke, push, delight, surprise. 💥😲
- It should be relevant. By relevant we mean it should relate to some of the numerous crisis (and opportunities) we and future generations are facing. 🌍🔥
“There are always two parties, the party of the Past and the party of the Future: the Establishment and the Movement.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
